There is way too much to tell to get you all up to speed on the last couple of months - so I will sum it all up in as much of a Reader's Digest version as possible.
The month of December was spent packing up everything, working way too many hours, flying to Missouri to see my family for Christmas, and then spending a quick night with Jim's family in Daphne, AL. Then, Jim & I began the crazy process of renting the biggest Budget truck you can drive, packing it up with everything we own or have ever owned (the Barbies and Star Wars collection, along with Cabbage Patch Kid doll & old football jerseys even made the trip).
We took off for Orlando at 6 pm from Destin on Saturday night, Dec 29 & arrived at our new subdivision at 4:30 am local time (or 3:30 central). Our realtor had given us the code to the gate, but when we arrived, it didn't open the gate. What the heck do you do at 4:30 in the morning, with everything you own & two cats who are just recovering from a tranquilizer-induced 8 hour nap?? Thank goodness Jim is a thinker & just started entering in random 4 digit codes & he guessed one that worked!! WOOHOO! So we went in, set up the cat food & litter area, laid out a blanket & pillows and slept...for about 3 hours. Then we were up again unloading the whole truck before the end of the next day. We were so incredibly sore after all that was done!!
But I have to tell you - Jim picked this house out by himself. Because of my work schedule & his work schedule and our collective lack of time to find a place, Jim had an afternoon to find something! I don't think I'll ever go house hunting again! I LOVE our place & will be incredibly happy here!!! He did so well!
We are enjoying being in a city again....we have already eaten at Cheesecake Factory (one of our faves), gone to an Orlando Magic game where Keyon Dooling, a Mizzou alum, got a lot of playing time, and we have done way too much shopping. With the new house came new bedroom furniture & kitchen table/chairs. We hadn't bought any furniture together since we have been together, so our house was a conglomeration of our households until now - we have "Our" stuff now!!
We are still training for our marathon & neither of us are injured...yet. I have been having some ankle pains & he has been having some achilles tendon pains. So we'll keep our eye on it & hopefully train safely. We love our running trail - beautiful houses, lots of water and we also run through the quaint 'downtown' of Windermere. We also run by Isleworth, where the cheapest home which is about 2,800 sq ft is still $1.5M. This subdivision is the home of Shaq, Tiger Woods, and other famous faces. It is ridiculous the amount of money that is in this city!!!
We are loving it & are starting to get settled into a routine again. Our kitties are finally figuring out where they like to lay & stretch & bathe, so the stars have finally aligned!! :)
